Actress Hair Dilemma

Award-winning actress and playwright Sharron Washington had hair concerns going into production, as most BlackTresses do. Most of us want to know ahead of time what our character's hair is going to look like , so that we can plan for it! This time Sharon's director wanted her to wear her cropped coily cut in its natural state. The challenge that Sharon faced was that the daily maintenance, I.e, wetting, detangling, twisting, & drying would be very high maintenance to have to worry about, in addition to performing 8 shows a week in a one-woman play. And what if she had to wake up early in the morning to look good for an on-camera interview or press? Hair is the last thing she needed to be “worried” about, when “acting” is her job, not hairstyling, lol. Sharon also wanted to try an option that felt more “natural”, more “her” than a wig.

Solution

So I came up with these Afro-kinky clip ins that you see in the pic. I cut them to her length, then 2 strand twisted them to replicate her own natural twist-out. And she can clip as many in or out as she’d like, depending on the volume she desires. Now she gets to choose when she wants to twist-out her own hair vs. when she wants to let the clip-ins do the work!
